ISP Providers

by bill . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

Recently, the company that I work for was using an ISP that decided on a Friday at 5pm to turn their machines off permanently and did not bother to tell anyone. We do web and email hosting along with a variety of other services.

We had to go to network solutions were are domain was registered and change the ip address associated with our domain name so the web and email hosting could continue. Four days of no websites and email for our clients.

I have two questions. 1. Is there anyway to have a backup provider associated with your domain. 2. If so, and you get a backup provider what is the easiest way to configure your dns on your servers if one provider goes down. All Win2K.

All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. BillGarner
