ISSEP, SSCP, CISSP & Certification

by jj2000 . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

Does anyone have advice or insight into the various Security Certifications floating out there?

I’m planning on tackling one/some of these and have read a lot of ‘related’ materials throughout the years, but have never pursued any of the security certs.

CISSP was the most obvious. I have a pretty good grasp (I think) of what that will involve.

What I’m curious about is the ISSEP & SSCP. I’ve found info (mostly at ISC2) about requirements, etc, but I’m looking for the real ‘meat’:
-What do these certifications really teach you?
-What technologies and systems do they apply to?
-How do they rank in difficulty relative to one another?
-What background or experience might be handy?
-Do these relate to security as a whole (all spectrums) or just as they apply to networks?

(PS I’m not looking for a job, so I’m not concerned with what this gets me in that regard).
