issues with higher than normal cpu usage

by tracarts . Updated 23 years, 6 months ago

Originally I was noticing a problem with my mouse and keyboard lagging in response. In looking at various items on my computer, I have discoverd that I am getting alot of spikes in the cpu usage.

I am running XP home on a FIC mother board, with 256 mg of ram and an amd 1332 chip. I have a standard keyboard and usb mouse.

I had not noticed this weird jitter in the mouse and keyboard until, I installed a linksys router/hub combo for the network. The new hub/router combo was installedto facilitate the use of a new cable modem. With the old hub, and the new cable modem, we were not getting the home network to work.

Is this just a side effect of the new hub/router? Or do I have some other issue in effect that is just more noticeable with this new configuration?

I have had issues all along with the Geforce 2mx/mx400 card since I put xp on this machine, and am in the process of trying to find a replacement video card.
