It appears that the Spotify app on macOS is scanning your home directories

I recently discovered that Spotify on macOS appears to scan through users’ home directories. During a tricky process—swapping my boot SSD, installing OpenCore, and moving to Sonoma—I noticed some peculiar files generated by Spotify. While trying to force the app to run OpenGL instead of Metal, I looked in ~/Library/Application Support/Spotify.app/Users/<username>/ and came across a file named “local-files.bnk.” It’s a binary database listing every audio and video file on my system—full paths included. I only use Spotify to stream content from its library, yet this database even contained my private work videos. Am I the only one who finds this intrusive for a streaming app?
