IT Auditor

By DonJohn ·
Hi everyone, I was a programmer for 7 years and hit the techie ceiling (not that high really) and could not get a salary increase without getting out of programming and entering the it audit field. After 16 months I see that I miss the technical field but it seems to be a catch 22 situation; that is techie jobs are lower paid and the management boring jobs are the higher paid.

Looking for ideas on what career path to take now.

Hi DonJohn. I to worked the tech support for 2 years and did the climb to auditor. I also managed to get my boss to let me come home to work the audits. pre record and do the audits. at the end of those 2 years at techie and 2 years auditor the company moved to another city. I am now with another company doing tech work at a higher level. I am not sorry I am back at it. I enjoy talking to many people and teaching the new techie's the ropes. I would say that you might look to the teaching side of the techie's job. you have the skills and knowledge beyond the phone. The new techie could benifit from this and teaching is a joy. besides if you are good enough to teach. you might get to travel for the department.
