IT Debate:HIPAA Internet security advice

by itdebate . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

According to Gartner The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) standards support Internet-based collaboration that can expose small and midsize healthcare organizations to security breaches. Does it make sense for the government to impose fines against HCOs if they fall victim to a hacker? Would you trust your HCO to distribute your medical information electronically? You can read the related Gartner article, which will be posted 3:00 AM Wednesday, at https://www.techrepublic.com/article.jhtml?id=r00620001122ggp01.htm
