It devolves

In my mind, that forum content of TR counts for little. I think it is one of those necessary evils, the way Letters to the Editor once were. Or, oddball questions, once detailed my junior self to answer under color of senior publishing authority.

If so, it's party time, people. Doesn't matter; has no advertising effect, unless egregious, which I try mightily to be.

It raises the notion in my mind

that most of your forum content lately consists of griping about this joint, moreso than any other form of 'participation'. Love ya, buddy, but you've always got the option.

Same advice as for Maxwell, the most ancient : "Don't gripe about it - bring it the **** on!!!"

TR had a guy in Nantucket
Who used to post threads by the bucket.
But the format was changed,
Impossibly rearranged,
And he threw up his hands, crying, "**** it!"

New Coke, the Mustang II, the Apple Newton.

There may be an interesting case study here regarding the system development process and what happens when it is not done properly.

Somehow the requirements for 'good navigation', 'marking items as helpful', and even 'finding things you posted' were lost, mistranslated, or ignored.

I don't know what happens behind the scenes at TR, and this is not intended to be a slight or criticism of them....they do seem like a nice group of people.

However to call this change a train-wreck is an insult to train wrecks.

I am guessing that the new site is some sort of content-management system that just 'works this way', therefore they are stuck with it, while I am guessing that the old site was a messy homegrown system that was horribly complex and hard to maintain....but worked.
