IT Helpdesk Software – freeware

Does anyone have any good recommendations on a ticket logging system for my very small IT staff. We would ideally like to log tickets, allow users to log tickets(without having to login), and allow us to search via a knowledge base etc. We have absolutely no budget for this and the only way we will get one is to design one or download a freeware version.
