be knowledgable about IT, be sensitive to customer needs, be able to manage people, be able to read and recognise BS when you see it, (and call it) be able to make decisions with less than perfect information (and be right) most importantly, be able to motivate your people to be customer oriented.

There are no set requirements to get into the field of IT management as there are many successful paths that work. I came up throught the ranks as a developer and transistioned to management. I have friends that worked their way up the network side. I would suggest that the best way is to become an IT generalist with specific skills in a single area. Ok, what does that mean? If programming is your forte study system development. If networks are your thing study system security. Add onto your base of technical knowledge project management techniques. It's a synergy of skills in a variety of areas that make for a successful IT mgr. You have to understand the technical side, work well with people, and be able to bring the two together.

NEED NO SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS. ALL WHAT U HAVE TO DO IS UNDERSTAND THE TERM IT AND HOW TO WORK WITH COMPUTERS. U NEED TO WORK UR WAY UP.
