IT Managment, how to break in…

by sawyer . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

I’ve been working in IT for over 10 years now as a network and system’s engineer. On a couple of occasions I have been primed to be a manager only to be thwarted by big shake ups in managment, followed by new uppers hireing their best friends.Latley

I feel like I have more expirence than the new managers and I would like to put my skills and knowledge to use.

Is it best to try to find an IT manger job with no mangment expirence, to the point where maybe I take a paycut and go to a smaller company?

Or is the only way to put in your time somewhere as a techie for many years and hope that nepatism does not win?
