ITIL Certification

By kenw23 ·
I would like to make the jump from Sr. Dev/Team Lead and am looking for certs that would help. Is ITIL worthwhile for this? Would I be better off with a MOSS /PMP / or other cert?

Leadership based training

by dendle In reply to ITIL Certification

The foundation course of ITIL is useful if you are in an organisation that has deloyed the ITIL Framework or if you are looking to move to a new company that uses ITIL.

After the foundation course you would need to determine what stream of ITIL you would like to specialise in (that is appropriate for you). For example Change Management etc.

I would suggest that if you are looking to move to Team Leader then more Leadership based roles/Project Management may be appropriate.

It is also an idea to evaluate where you see yourself in 3 years, then 5 years and to choose training/self development that helps you to achieve these goals.

If Project Management is more where you want to be then courses in Prince 2 may be more appropriate than ITIL.

Hope this helps as a starter,
