It’s all over but the “crying”

Locked

by purpleskys ·

Well here it is mid April and I’m all done…there’s no more assignments to hand in, there are no more tests to write, and no more oral presentations/reports to be given. Starting next Monday, I begin my workterm at a local dentist’s office for five weeks, if I successfully complete that, I will finally be graduated!

It’s been a tough year, mentally and financially here, but I couldn’t have asked for better moral support than what I received from all my friends and family and the good folks here at TR that have been supportive as well….Thank you 🙂 And a special humble thank you to my husband, Darryl, who has had to listen to the cranky, snooty lady that kicks around here trying to finish off the last of her work, and use him as my “F1” button quite frequently, I couldn’t have gotten this far without his love and support.

As soon as my instructors are done putting our final marks together, I will inform anyone who would like to know.

Thanks everyone! 🙂

I loved the technical part of it all, if there had been more technical stuff, I would have had way more fun 😀 ! As for OB, I could burn the book on that I disliked it so much; too much theory for me. OP wasn’t just filing, there was proper phone etiquette, itineraies, travel bookings, and a bunch of other stuff that one would never really think of but is relevant to being an office admin.

There is always the Good Old Fashioned Bribery, or if you are like me just tell them what happens to them if they don’t do as I tell them to. 😀

I find that terrifying the people generally gets what I require. I still remember walking into a room full of dealers dragging a Stock whip behind me and caring a set of handcuffs and telling the dealers that if they broke any of my machines I would hand cuff them to a hook in the wall and whip them to within a inch of their lives. The guy from the company in Switzerland fell off his chair and then spent the rest of the day trying to get someone to make a complaint about me. Unfortunately for me he failed so I had to keep working there. :_|

3 Years latter he said that I had an interesting way of dealing with people that not may could pull off, the fact that I taught them better than he could ever hope to do made me sort of useful. :^0

I could find a way to take all their pcs hostage 0:-) but i thought maybe i shouldn’t just yet..at some point, i’ll let them in on how computer literate i really am (although i’m not a adept as a lot of the folks here)…but for now, i’ll stick to answering the phone, filing, and booking appointments with the dental software they have – it’s neet learning something new while i’m there if nothing else 😉

Sounds like some sort of Medical Practice and that’s defiantly not a great place to be particularly if they just do Oral stuff. :-q

Should I mention that many years ago when I did Medical I got into no end of trouble for using MS as shorthand for Microsoft? Apparently the highly trained Quacks read it exactly as written and promptly came to the conclusion that all of the Computers had caught Multiple Sclerosis and they warted to know if it was as incurable as the Human Equivalent. I’ve never used MS since as it still causes me nightmares. But for some strange reason when I used M$ they all knew exactly what I meant. So I still use it today to describe Microsoft it’s just easier. :^0

Perhaps PS you could teach one of my clients to use his computer. He expects the thing to just work and do as he wants without him needing to learn how to do things. I’ve got very good at talking him through things from memory I really have had that much practice helping this guy. OH did I mention that he’s a surgeon and a very highly qualified one? He is constantly telling me that the way that he has to do things isn’t very Intuitive even though he does call all computers FRED

F I’ll leave that you your imagination
R Ridiculous
E Electronic
D Device

Not only does he complain that it takes way too long to boot but he wants a Interface that even a Surgeon can use so it has to be usable by a 6 month old. 😉

The QC’s here are not any better either. So I’m assuming that all Professionals know next to nothing at all about the computers that they use in their work and I’m never disappointed. That’s probably why I like the earthmover’s they say it exactly as it is and when peeved off are just as likely to crush the offending piece of hardware that doesn’t do as they want with something very big, then come after the person who sold it to them demanding that with the next one you do it right so that they can use it. :0
