I’ve just spent a weekend playing ‘Race: GRID’ – Have you ??

Locked

by older mycroft ·

Visually it is so impressive it made one of my pals leave the room, because he felt giddy!

I’m just asking, as a PC game, is this about the most visually stunning game ever?

Don’t get me wrong – I know what 148mph feels like, but that’s in the cockpit of a C-130. When I used to reach 200+ I was ‘up in the air’ so visually nothing ever really moved.

that’s why your winky blinky face has been missing from my contacts!

I’ve been popping in and out of TR, giving finals, grading finals and homework. In short, working with tidbits of fun tossed in.

No tossing fun

I can’t be the only person on the TR planet that has enjoyed this game.

C’mon – reply with your feelings for the game!!! B-)

what is Race:GRID?

If its a new game, is it for the PC, and XBOX or all?

I dont keep up on the newest games, and I keep the race
games for the 360, cause for some reason they always
BSOD my system.
The shooters work fine on my system though, and I
cannot play them on the 360….

Thanks for asking

I didn’t want to show my ignorance. I don’t play anything I can’t play on my XP box, that costs over $20, and that takes me longer than fifteen minutes to die or quit.

On the other hand, I’d really like one more ride in a Herky-bird!

NP — I rarely spend more than $30 for a game

by the scummy one ·

and never over $40.

But then again, I dont get games too often either. Just a couple of times a year I may go out and pick up a couple.

Sheesh, and there was me thinkin’ that with all this PC expertise, I’d be talking to an enormous crowd of well-blooded PC race-drivers and FSP-ers, but no ~ apart from my old Gore shooter CaptBilly1Eye, the rest of you are like rejects from an old folks home.

“I might buy a couple a year”INDEED!

Guys (and Gals…) – If it wasn’t for fervent computer gaming in most of its guises, I’d have never made it as far as actually using a computer at work!!

Hell, I was playing computer games before the average workplace even knew what a Workstation or a LAN was.

FYI – Race Driver:GRID runs on my gaming PC, the faster the PC the better the game. Here’s a decent multi-choice link for what I’m talking about. Have a look-see for yourself:

Sadly most of these submitted videos are all from a 3rd person view outside and behind each vehicle – far too much like a Console Game.

Check out this video, using one of the FIVE camera angles inside the car. THIS is where you can make other folk dizzy when they’re just watching. 🙂

I don’t play anything that does’nt leave one hand free. I would hate to have to replace keyboards that would keep getting soaked when I knock over my drinks. 😉

I am more inclined to play the Warhammer series that my boys got me. 🙂

Sorry, don’t own a game console or a joystick. I never got the gaming bug. I bought a marked-down copy of NASCAR 2000 once. I wasn’t willing to mess with tire pressures, chassis configurations, keep notes on what I tried, etc. It was too much work for me to have any fun. I feel the same way about flight simulators and most Sim games.

There are other forms of entertainment I’d rather spend my money on. Some of those games cost as much as race tickets!

• #2919096

Well ~THIS~ costs a lot less than whatever a Race Ticket is …

The ‘Competition Pro 5000’ of the 21st Century and it’s fully microswitched for less than half what it originally cost, with leaf-springs, over 20 years ago!!

I am surprised too

that not many people responded.
It looks cool, however I’ll wait.

I just hooked up my 360 again, havent used it in 6 or 7 months now. I never finished Need for Speed Carbon to my satisfaction yet. But I also plan on giving Blazing Angels another try (it used to hurt my hand after about half an hour).

My most blazing Win system doesnt like race games at all. Whenever I install one (tried 3) I get a BSOD when starting it. Went in to configs and still couldnt get it to work, so I gave up on Racing games for my PC in 06.

Since I havent used the game console for many months, I really dont go out and buy many games.
In fact, the last game I got was F.E.A.R. and the dual expansion pack.
Heck, its been a few months since I played that too!

Edit: BUMP — so that maybe a gamer on TR will see it 😀

Yes, GRID

by sbrooks ·

In reply to I’ve just spent a weekend playing ‘Race: GRID’ – Have you ??

Yes I have played the DEMO, c’mon guys its free, at least try it out.

It was impressive, but I simply can’t play a driving game with a keyboard these days, I purchased a steering wheel once many years ago just to play Porsche Unleashed (the first decent driving game by EA, and still the best!)

This (GRID) is the first game I have played that really matches or exceeds the feel I had from that game, I wouldn’t give two cents for any new EA driving game, they’re all bling, no substance.
