Java Cert

By tc77722 ·
Is it still making sense to obtain Java Cert directly from Sun or any Academia Institution would be fine?

I personally am taking Sun Authorized training at a local community college to get certified. I think any training that prepared you for the cert should be fine. Some curriculum provide more than others. I think the Sylvan Prometrics will give you the tests.

Is it necessary

by Ugo Posada In reply to Re: Java Cert

Do you think it is necessary to take a course even if you've been programming in Java for over a year. I'm reading the Java tutorial in order to get certified, brushing up some basics that are important. Later I will get a book and I will take some mock tests but I don?t consider that the cost of taking a course is justified.

Training course not required

by raf952 In reply to Is it necessary

It is not necessary to take a training course.

I took the exam after three weeks of study of an exam book (Roberts/Heller) plus the ExamCram for a different perspective. I had limited experience programming in Java, but am a manager with extensive OO programming experience from my previous life.

Good luck.
