java hang

By dhough ·
Mac powerbook 1400c - modified to 128M ram, with G3 Sonnet upgrade.

When a site opens - says reading java - the spinning black and white ball just hangs and you have to restart. You can't open anything that uses java.

What is the cure?

I'd say this sounds like a problem with your Java VM engine not starting properly. Is this IE or Netscape? What OS revision is it? My guess would be to check to see if there are any newer versions of the Java engine. You might also want to try throwing out any internet related preferences. If you are using IE, there is a repair file that ships with it that may fix your problems as well.

I'd have to agree -- we need to know:

o What OS you're running

o What version of MRJ you have

o What browser you're running

Currently Mac OS 9.0.4 and MRJ 2.2.3 are
the latest versions available. I've seen
flakiness running Java with nightly builds
of Mozilla, so in a way, I'm not surprised
that you're having problems with Java on
a 1400.
