Java problem on a Mac

By pmfturner ·
Using a mac (MacOSX v 10.2.8, 256Mb, 667MHZ
POWERPC G4) and have been using a chat service
run by Orange. Now when logging in, I get a message
"Java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:com.chatspace.Br
owser3x.Chat", and the chat screen won't load. Do I
have to re-install Java, and if so, where from ? If not,
can someone help ?

It looks like the server is looking for a version of the Java VM
that is later than 10.2.8 can support. According to what I found
here
<http://tinyurl.com/lh9y3>
this causes the server to look for an older client [Browser3x].

If possible, I would upgrade the Mac at least to 10.3.9 [Panther],
which should support Java upgrades for the foreseeable future.

HTH,

paul
