Job Hunting and Identity Theft

by foleyb . Updated 21 years, 4 months ago

I’ve been recently getting some regular unsolicited calls from recruiters (a good sign I guess!) looking for me to provide updated resumes/job information. I usually check out the firm before I send a resume. All are on the up and ups so far, but the thought came to me that, given all the concern about identity theft today, anyone concerned about providing their personal information, at least your address, phone and even cell number? The knee jerk reaction is to fire off your resume to someone who may be offering you a better job. But is there some precautions that should be taken? And anyone concerned about all the jobs boards with our resumes and personal data plastered all over? Seems like these identity thieves could really take advantage of this process.
