Job Opportunity

By amcol ·
I've seen others try this within this space so I'll give it a shot myself.

I have an opening for a Technical Support Manager in our headquarters in Washington DC. I'm the CIO/CTO of a Federal agency having something to do with the US foreign aid program, and that's all I can say about that herein.

Here's the position description:

"The Technical Support Manager reports to the Chief Technology Officer (that's me) and works with professionals in all operating departments in support of all their technology requirements. A newly created position, the incumbent will be a hands on professional able to handle an eclectic set of responsibilities. Since IT is for the most part outsourced, the IT department will remain very small and each member will be expected to perform duties ranging from onsite customer support to program development to project management. This challenging opportunity is best suited to someone with strong customer focus skills, strong technical skills with a breadth and depth of technical knowledge, strong project and vendor management skills, and an appetite for going above and beyond the call.

The successful incumbent will develop a strong and deep knowledge of the business as a direct complement to an equally strong and deep technology skill set. Some knowledge of physical infrastructure will be required but for the most part job responsibilities will be oriented around supporting application and database enterprise architecture components. Some of those components include document management, workflow management, international telecomm, economic and statistical modeling, and advanced analytic techniques including data warehousing and modeling."

Here's the requirements:

"Strong oral and written communication skills, and experience working with a broad cross section of multi-disciplinary professionals at all levels of the organization from junior analyst through executive; demonstrable leadership skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build consensus and add value to the organization; ability to develop and maintain cooperative, professional relationships in order to manage team projects and to facilitate technology transfer; demonstrable experience with successful management of customer relationships, preferably in a consulting environment; ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful, environment with tight deadlines and various demands; B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience; M.S. in IT or MBA in a technical discipline and/or international development greatly preferred; knowledge of MS/Access, MS/Windows, MS/Project, and the Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of any DBMS (Oracle or SQL/Server preferred) and at least one programming language (C++ or VB preferred); knowledge of .net (preferred) or Java."

I can punt on the educational requirements (they make me put that stuff in). Relocation may be available, although local candidates are preferred.

If you're interested or you know someone who might be, please send me an e-mail. This opening won't last long and I'm hiring right now.
