Job Serach Resources

By mlccrc ·
I recently relocated to San Francisco and I am looking to make a trnasition into the technology industry. Most of my work experience has been in executive level management in the not-for-profit sector , with significant exposure to project management in IS. I am looking for support groups, individuals, and or organizations to contact to help me in my job search.

I moved from San Francisco almost two years ago and worked in both the non-profit and public sectors. As far as non-profit, try contacting the Bay Area Video Coalition (non-profit). Don't let the name fool you. They offer ongoing technology classes and have a great network for job hunting.

If you are still interested in non-profits in the area, try the Foundation Library in downtown SF- a great place to research.

That's the best I can do, since I made the transition solely to technology once I moved. Hope this helps.

I found that there are many web sites that you could access for free that will show you the jobs available in your area. Some of these are www.brassring.com, www.jobs.com, and www.computerjobs.com. These sites will allow you to send your resume toemployers right through there site at no charge. It will also list jobs in your area.

You can also try:

www.josbshark.com
www.thinkpath.com
www.workopolis.com
Although workopolis is a Canadian site, it does sometimes have US postings

I would recommend that you purchase a copy of "Ask the Headhunter" by Nick Corcodillos. It's about one's approach to job hunting and how to be one's own headhunter.

Additionally, the board on the Ask the headhunter website (www.asktheheadhunter.com )is a great source of support / advice while going through your search.

All the best
