Our company has a job titled “Applications Developer Adminstrator”. It is described as being a job that requires a person to design, coordinate, implement computerized systems for personnel. Includes analyzing, upgrading and establishing systems. Working with LANS and WANS. It also requires at least an Associate Degree (Computer Science) and three to five years as an analyst.
Does anyone have the same type of job title in their company? If so, what are the duties and qualifications? And just as a side-bar, how does an Associate Degree earned back in the 1980’s measure up to over twenty years experience (current experience) in the computer industry?
I ask because sometimes titles are just that, ‘titles only’. They don’t necessarily reflect the duties that are really done. In the case of our company, this title was created to give someone a new title but their work was basically the same as the ‘Computer Analyst’ job that they previously did.
Where is the line drawn that separates an ADA from a Computer Analyst?
