JOINING W2KSRV TO NT4.0 PDC REMOTELY

By ILoveNetworking ·
Guys,

I have a NT4.0 PDC in one location. I have opened up all ports on my firewalls and I map all services from the WAN IP to LAN IP.
I configured my remote W2K MEMBER SERVER with the WINS address of the NT4.0 PDC. I don't have ANY internal DNSservers. Locally I can join my W2K computers to the NT4.0 domain no problem!!!
I cannot do it remotely!!!!!!!!!!!! All the ports are open and I verified that using a port scanner.
HELP!

JOINING W2KSRV TO NT4.0 PDC REMOTELY

1. Check that you can ping your PDC from remote location.

2. Create LMHOSTS file with lines like:

192.168.x.x MyPDC #DOM:MyDomain #PRE

and save it to diskette.

3. During installation some time you will have button like "Read LMHOSTS". Push it and add created file from your diskette.

4. After this you will be able to associate your Domain Name with PDC IP Address.

Good luck.
