If it has the right programs, it might be a good choice. But we can only say it’s better than the alternatives, if you tell what alternatives you had in mind and what kind of designing you do.
It all depends what you plan to use it for. You didn’t clarify enough to offer advice. When I owned a Mac Air, I did enjoy it but I do prefer Windows laptop computers for my own needs.
