Jumping screen

By VCHD_IT ·
Our agency has a new Compaq Ipaq. The screen on the monitor just started to jump. The picture is fluttering at a pace that is very irritating. IS the monitor bad, the video card bad or is there a setting that needs to be changed?

I wouldn't suspect the software, unless the monitor can't support the settings of the video card. Change the display settings to 640x460 with 16 colors and see if it still jumps.
To isolate the monitor vs the video card, swap monitor with another monitor... This is easy and fast.
If it still jumps, do the same for the video card. The video card is a little more work, you will need to install appropiate drivers unless they are the same card.

This is a brand new IPAQ, with integrated video, swapping cards may not be an option, swapping screens is a good first step though.

Did the system work properly at first, for a few days?

See if the problem follows the screen or stays at the workstation, after that contact Compost for warranty replacement. (Good Luck....)
