Keep searching for job or start study …

by jugjava . Updated 20 years, 6 months ago

Hi,
I have a B.S degree in Computer Engineering with 3 years of software development experience in Java technologies ( from India ) . I have a SCJP2 , Brainbench certifications in Java and J2EE.
I migrated to US in 2002 and since then have been out of the work force basically due to family reasons . I already have a Green Card so there are no sponsership issues. During this time I have been trying to keep myself updated on the latest technologies mainly J2EE etc. thru self study.

I have been trying to find a job for quite some time now and most of the places I have been rejected due to the career gap( which is frustrating.. ) . I even thought of taking some Java related certification, but the place I live has very less IT companies . And so somehow the thought of pursuing it did not interest me.

Above all I feel that programming is really not my cup of tea and would like to consider other options in IT.

I am looking into starting my Masters in Computer Information Systems ( concerntrating on s/w engineering and IT systems management ). Besides this taking some electives from the management school ( like marketing , management ). Do you think this is a good move ?

Besides this I know one cannot really guarantee that a higher degree will get me a job, but what all positions can i target for after completing it ??
