key code retrieval

is there some way to retieve toe key code from memory or ? seems the computer I bought belonged to someone else before the guy I got it from so no name or adress to ID it to MS HELP spent some big bucks $$ Im told the copy was legit but who knows. sholdnt the code be in it some where ?

Well if the unit is working

You'll need to tell us what OS and other software you want to get the key For.

But M$ are not interested in Names & Addresses all you need is their Install Media and the COA that is stuck on the side of the case for Windows and for Office the Product Key that is on the Orange Label on the Cover of the Office Install Disc.

If you have the M$ Install Media and require a Product Key M$ will Issue you one when you request it directly from them. They will require you to read the Codes off the Inner Ring of the Install Disc and they will E-Mail you a Product Key for the media that you have.

If it is from a System Maker like Dell, HP, Gateway or so on you just need to contact them for these details.

if it doesn't work with the CD that you have it may be an OEM version with a retail key or vis versa, so you need to find a different cd. Or you can find and download XP 8-in-1, which includes all versions on one cd.
