keyboard and mouse work for a few seconds then fail on start up

*windows xp/dell pc*

On start up the mouse and keyboard, work for a few seconds at the windows log in screen, I can move the cursor and begin to type my password, then both stop working.

But if I press F8 the keyboard works at the screen where you can select safe mode etc.

The same happens when I try too ebter safe mode, or use the “restore to last working point” function.

I have recently (2 days ago) installed a new graphics card, new ram, and a new wireless mouse. But these have all worked perfectly for 2 solid days of use.

I shut the computer down as normal last night and the problem occurred this morning.

Its very strange that both work fine for a few seconds then fail I’m assuming its a driver issue? But again very strange that it worked fine then after I haven’t changed/installed/uninstalled any thing they both fail now.

Annoyingly I have quite a long password and cannot type it in before the 2 fail.

Dell didn’t include a windows disk, in their package they just have a little bit of card saying its not needed and you use system restore (not if the keyboard and mouse don’t work grr).

Please help me!
