Keyboard Detect

By philtronix ·
My Laptop is a Toshiba Satelite.
Some keys stopped working some time back and when I tried to connect an external keyboard it is not being detected but on the same port (PS/2) the mouse is being detected.
What can be the problem?

Restart the computer, press the "Delete" (Del) button to go into the bios setup, then go to "Integrated Peripherals" and set the ports to the standard settings.

Re-start the computer and perform the following:
1. click your "Start: button, then
2. select " Settings".
3. click "System" icon
4. click on the "Device Manager" tab.
5. expand "System Devices"
6. right-click "Advanced power management".
7. select Properties.
8. check "Disable this device from this profile".
9. re-start the computer.

Make sure that there is not an IRQ conflict
