Ok so I hook up an IDE drive via a SATA card device and get it to work through the BIOS, I start noticing my keyboard seems to be laggy and intermittent, or sometimes unresponsive. I see the device is hooked up via the SATA interface in the BIOS and think little more of the keyboard. I transfer the contents of one drive to another, power down the computer, remove the temporary drive and start it up again. The keyboard is now unresponsive, but the mouse seems to still be working. The keyboard/mouse package is a Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3000, about 3 years old.
I plug in a different keyboard and mouse, joy so far, except for the mouse which occasionally zips to the screen border (any of the borders, top, bottom, etc.) Windows installs the drivers for the keyboard and mouse (if any were needed) and I restart the PC. The mouse still does a disappearing act on me occasionally.
The Logitech Cordless suite is a PS/2 mouse and USB keyboard plug arrangement, whereas the current arrangement I’m using is vice-versa.
There have been no driver updates for the MX3000 suite since late 2006 from what I can see. What could be causing these peripheral glitches? PS/2 & USB ports?
Suggestions and advice appreciated thanks.
