Keyboard’s Killin Me After Updates

by tunapez . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

Howdy, after updating XP Home certain keys on my laptop keyboard stop working. Have reloaded 4 maybe 6 times already, trying to pinpoint which 3rd party app was the offender. It appears it’s not an app after all, but one of the 70 XP downloads/updates. Anyone have any ideas or know of any issues w/ updates & keyboards in the last 60 days?

The external, USB keyboard all keys work, but laptop keys g, h, -, f8, left-CTRL and PrtScr don’t work in regular mode, safe mode or in DOS. Reinstalled drivers and no luck still. Reload OS w/ XP Home disk(repartition/full NTFS Format) and they still don’t work. However, if I boot into DOS w/ ’98 recovery disk, repartition in DOS and then reload XP home, the keys work like a dream…until the Updates. Is there any known issues with updates in the last 60 days? Anyone have suggestions besides removing all 70 updates?
Thanx
