Kyocera Printer Setup

By nhoek ·
Has anyone had any luck adding a Kyocera FS-1700 laser printer to their network and printing to it via the network card using TCP IP. I can add the IP address and Mask to it and I can ping it from Various Pcs in our network (win 200, NT 4 server and Win 98 PC). But I can not add this printer via Jetdirect or Kyoceras version of Jetdirect.

Anyone got any ideas or any documentation. I have tried to search their web and contact them and still no luck. They say to create a port and Use LPD/LPR. I want to avoid this, as our buisness program can only connect VIA IP.

Lexmark makes a jetadmin like product called Markvision which can be freely downloaded:

No luck still doesn't work, it seems all the software can not see the printer.

Using the LPR program will install the printer with a virtual LPT port local to each PC. This should work with any software that allows for printing to an LPT port. The virtual port communicates through the IP address. So the software that you use will not print to a local LPT port at all?

Do you see the printer in the network n-hood? If not then something in the setup isn't correct. If its there right click on it and install.

The printer will appear as another system on the network and may be considered an intruder. So in other words is the printer being blocked by the firewall?

This is kind of what we ended up doing, we added a TCPIP Port and shared it out that way. We have not tested it on our business system yet but hopefully that will work.
