I recently upgraded from WinNT4 to Win2000. Disk C is a 2GB FAT drive. I had 700Mb free before installation and 65Mb after. All files on the C drive are system related drivers. By removing font files and uninstalling a few none essential items I wasable to get 104Mb free space.
When I attempted to install SP1 from the web, I was 147Mb short or over 340Mb short with file backup. I downloaded the Network install files to try and avoid temporary files but got the same messages. The web site says the CD requires only 10Mb of free space. The WinNT directory on the C drive consumes 1.2GB.
My questions are:
1. Will the CD update Win2000 to SP1 with 100Mb of free space?
2. How much space should Windows 2000 consume? Did the installation leave unnecessary files on my system?
3. Can anyone suggest ways to reduce the size of my WinNT directory … utilities or files that can be safely removed?
