    lag spikes

    Locked

    by alibabapirce ·

hi. im writing here cause recently i have had some conectivity problems (it started 2 days ago). from time to time i get lag spikes in games for 1-2s (even tho my pind doesnt rise). i did ping loop and during those spikes my request gets timed out and in latency test the latency jumps from average of 50ms to around 10 000. i already reseted my router and my internet card, my dns and tcp, i turned off firewall and nothing seems to help.
wierdest part is it only happens once every 1000 pings (2 of the request gets timed out than its back to normal). i did contact my internet provider but i wonder if there is anything else i could do from my side or is there any chance at all its problem on my side?

But you didn’t mention your ISP, what network gear you have and more.
So at this point you call the ISP and ask for their suggestions.

I’m sorry to hear about the connectivity issues you’re experiencing. It’s frustrating, but let’s try to troubleshoot this further:

      Check Hardware Connections:

Ensure that all cables connected to your router and modem are secure and undamaged. Loose or damaged cables can lead to intermittent connectivity issues.
      Update Router Firmware:

Check if there’s a firmware update available for your router. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity problems.
      Check for Interference:

Nearby electronic devices, especially those that use the same frequency range (e.g., microwave ovens, cordless phones), can interfere with your Wi-Fi signal. Try relocating your router or minimizing interference.
      Check for Bandwidth Usage:

Make sure there are no other devices or applications on your network consuming excessive bandwidth. This can cause lag spikes.
      Scan for Malware or Viruses:

Perform a thorough scan of your computer for malware or viruses. Malicious software can affect network performance.
      Update Network Drivers:

Ensure that your network drivers are up to date. Outdated or corrupted drivers can lead to connectivity issues.
      Check for Background Processes:

Some background processes or applications on your computer may be using network resources. Close any unnecessary applications.
      Contact Your ISP Again:

Since you’ve already contacted your internet service provider (ISP), follow up with them and provide any additional information you’ve gathered.
      Consider Professional Help:

If the issue persists, you might want to consult a professional technician who can perform more advanced diagnostics.
Remember to document any specific error messages or patterns you notice, as this information can be helpful in pinpointing the problem. Additionally, keeping a log of when the connectivity issues occur can aid in troubleshooting.

If all else fails, your ISP may need to perform more advanced troubleshooting or send a technician to investigate the issue further.
