I’m stumped and its driving me crazy. Heres the situation. I have a Compaq R4025US laptop with the 15.4″ screen. I also have a Westinghouse 22″ LCD monitor. I just moved into an older house from my apartment. Since the move, I am having a problem with getting my monitor to appear clear and steady like it use to. I get a lot of static if you will in the monitor now. At first I thought that it could be a problem with the electrical current and old wiring in the house so I went out and purchased a Monster Cable surge protector with the clean power 1.0 circuitry, made no difference. Then I tried an Acoustic Research power conditioner, it helps a bit. When I booted up my laptop and everything, I seen the static, but when I turned the power off and back on the power conditioner it seem to fix the problem. Now the problem is back and the trick doesn’t work anymore. This is also interesting. When my power cord is plugged into the laptop, I see the biggest amount of static in the lcd monitor, but when I unplug and run it on battery, i almost completely clears right up. I’ve changed vga cables twice, no fix. I’ve tinkered with the clock and phase on the lcd screen, no fix.
So now I’m not sure if its the vga port on my laptop, the power adapter on the laptop, my monitor, the wiring in the house. Anyone have any suggestions on what I might be able to do to fix this problem.
