Laptop boots up and shuts down

By jorge_chirinos ·
I have an IBM Thinkpad A21m. The system was up and then it went into stand by mode. I tried to shut it down by disconnecting the AC power supply and taking the battery off. But now when I tried to boot it up, it makes it as far as the windows startup logo and then it does into stand by and never finishes to boot up. I have observed that the CD is making some cranky noise when I boot up, I took it out, but then the computer wouldn't boot up at all. I have tried with and without the battery. In the last try, the computer put a message out in text saying that the CD-ROM had an error.
Any ideas?

You could possibly have a virus. Maybe the anig virus that replaces an ini file to NTGINA.dll...
Take a look, you might need to modify registry.
Check this site for more info...

You can try 3 things.

1. Boot to safe mode and disable the screen saver.

2. Boot from last known good boot/configuration.

3. Change bios setting to boot from HD first and not to stop on errors.
