Laptop CPU's & Desktop CPU's

By Errd ·
When comparing a laptop P3-600 CPU with a desktop P3-600 CPU, are they both identical CPU's and have the same speed ? or the CPU's manufactured for laptops have a different design ?

Thanks.

Both processors have the same performance, but laptop's CPU are more expensive, due to it's size & power consumption basically.
Be carefull, vendors may get confused when comparing CPU.
Also the technologies for building up a standart CPU and a Laptop CPU are quite different, but all components performs the same task.

Mobile P3's do use a different design to the standard desktop variety.

Have a look at http://www.intel.com/home/pentiumiii/tech-info.htm

If comparing mobile and desktop P3-600s, then the speed is the same (600MHz), but the processing power maybe different depending on what you are doing. The laptop P3 also has technology to slow it down when not in use, to save power and reduce heat output.
