laptop display problem

By yapabc ·
i bought a laptop (acer aspire 5510) recently. 1 month ago, when i switched on the laptop, everything seem to work but the monitor is black. i tried to switch on and off for a few times and finally it came back normal. what is the cuase of this problem? Can it be due to virus? will upgrading RAM causing any display problem?

no video

What I might suspect:

1. Hardware problem with either video display on mb or connection to display.

2. Display is set to alternate video display, i.e. TV out.

3. Upgrading RAM might cause not booting at all, but I wouldn't associate it with bad video. Did you add RAM? Maybe something got loose like a connector.

4. Not likely a virus.

5. Possibly in hibernate mode or standby mode.

plug a monitor in and boot - then at least you can use your laptop.

flashLCD

Its just an idea, when it works normally, find a flash for the LCD monitor. You can always google it around. It is used to repair dead pixels.

Its always worth a try.

Cheers.
Bob.
