LapTop Domain & Workgroup login

By pfedynich2 ·
I have Win 2K Pro on my laptop and log into a domain at work but when I am home I can't connect to my desktop which is part of a workgroup. What is the easiest solution without having to reconfigure my laptop network identification settings every time?

On your desktop, right click "my computer" and choose properties. Choose hardware, then click on hardware profiles. click copy. You will now have two hardware profile choices on bootup. once booting and you choose the second profile, change your settings for the network card and your network identification settings to reflect the home based workgroup. Now you can log into the company domain from profile one and your home workgroup from profile two.
Good luck!

I just tried this and everything worked up until I went to log back on to profile 1, I lost the option to log on to the domain. Now I have to get back to the office to reconnect with the domain controller. Any suggestions on what I may have done wrong?

Another great solution is Netswitcher. Take a look at www.netswitcher.com

This is what I use....
