Laptop (equipped with Windows Vista Home Premium) won’t stay hibernated

Machine is a HP Pavilion dv6408nr, and all my non-essential programs are set to not run if the machine is on battery, and yet… I’ve had no luck keeping the thing from coming back on (from hibernation, no less!) within 15-20 minutes of being placed in hibernation.

Examining the logs only deepens the mystery, since two of the programs causing 90% of the problem are just that: programs. They’re not Windows Services, and they don’t contain services as part of their portfolio.

Disabling the (unnecessary) Windows Media Player Guide Updater (and all the other updaters that I could find!) did no good.

Considering the hazard of one’s laptop coming on inside the case, I’m keen to prevent this in future. Can anyone assist in this?
