    Laptop keeps freezing every few seconds for a quarter of a second.

    I have just gotten a new to me lenovo laptop and it keeps freezing. I am downloading some updates and i think that might be the problem but not sure. Also my disk usage is at 100% despite there being nothing running at times.

      That is quite possible but because

      The auto processes are using the entire bandwidth of the HDD, things like Defrag or Page File/Swap File can do thins.

      What you need to look at however is CPU Usage. if that is constantly at 100% then you have to find out why and fix that.
