laptop keys not functioning

By garyb205 ·
I tried installing a wireless keyboard and mouse to my Compaq Evo 410 laptop. The wireless devices did not work, and now, none of the keys on the laptop work. I have connected an external keyboard and mouse for now, but how can I get the laptop keys to function properly? I am running windows 2000 on this machine.

Download the drivers for keyboard/mouse to a location on the laptop (just remember where you put them). Use the following link (download both sets of drivers for the keyboard)
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/EvoNotebook/us/locate/20_4214.html

Then, right-click on My computer?select Properties?Hardware Tab?Device Manager?expand Keyboards?select your keyboard device?right-click and choose Properties?click Driver tab?click Update Driver?select ?Install from a list or specific location??Next?put a check beside ?Include this location in search??click Browse?select the keyboard driver you downloaded?Next?finish wizard. Then return to Device Manager?expand ?Mice and other pointing devices??select driver and finish wizard as previously. Reboot.
