Power-up problem

It is either a bad power supply (have someone check the output with a VOM meter) or it a bad DC Jack on the motherboard. The DC Input Jack on the motherboard going bad or coming loose is a common problem on laptops

It would be if the NB worked otherwise

by OH Smeg In reply to laptop malfunction

But if it is unknown if the NB actually works it could be anything from a Shot Mains Adapter to a dead M'Board.

You need to do the basic diagnostics things like test the Mains Adapter, remove the RAM clean and refit and so on. Also check the plug where the mains Adapter plugs into the NB many people stuff their Nb's into the bags with the mains Adapter plugged in and this breaks the socket and sometimes the M'Board.
