Have an older Compaq Evo n800c laptop running WinXP Pro with a Belkin Wireless-G cardbus adapter. Was working fine, no changes, when the system stopped recognizing the adapter.
It shows up in the Device Manager as an unknown device, and while I can’t stop it before removing it (because it doesn’t show up in the “safely remove hardware” list), when I pull the card out the system plays the remove device sound. The Wireless-G card works fine in other laptops, so it’s not the card, and an old wireless-B card works intermittently in the laptop. I ran the Winsock fix for XP 1.2 and it didn’t help. Any ideas?
