    Laptop not turning on

    Locked

    by fathom ·

My laptop isn’t turning on. Someone accidently used the wrong power adapter. I’m not sure if that’s what happened. I then found the correct power adapter and it still wont turn on. It doesn’t even show the battery light turn on when plugged in like it used to. Is there a way I can easily fix this problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

Most of the laptops have a fuse inside them to prevent someone plugging in an adapter that offers up a different voltage.

Most likely will need a technician to open the laptop and replace that fuse.

Try to simply remove battery and put it back in. Then see if it will power up.

might be the power adapter, might be the battery
plug it all in and watch the power light while you wiggle the power cable at stress points to make sure you don’t have bad luck of failed power cable. if you are technical, you could look for voltage on the end that goes into the computer to see if the cord is good. but with your scenario sounds like might be kaput. maybe the battery needs replacing or just needs charging. you might have to take it in somewhere.

I have the same problem. The computer ran just fine with the battery. The ac adapter is checked and is working. I opened the computer up and traced it’s power source and have voltage all the way up to the battery. So I do have power, but it will not charge the battery or turned on with the ac adapter plugged in. My friend did a battery test and recalibrate the battery and ever since it stopped working. I think it has something to do with the bios, still looking for an answer.
