Hi to everyone. I have this issue with a Gateway Laptop MX3210 in which the power connector went bad once (tested the power output with meter and got none) so my customer replaced it. In the meantime before it went bad it took the power jack with it (inside of it metal connections broke). So I bought a new power jack and solder it and done. Worked fine. Got a call a month an a half after and the same problem happened again with the power jack, but this time with a replacement power connector. According to Laptop Specs it’s power input is 19v. 3.42 amps. The replacement power connector output’s was rated for 19v 4.74 amps. Could it be that the higher amps coming from the power connector caused the failure in the power jack? (the power jack broke again as in the first time). According to customer the replacement power connector was getting very hot when the laptop was on. Should something like 18.5v 3.5 amps work good on the laptop?. Thanks for any response.
