Laptop says it sees the Router but no IP Address

by terrydeb . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

I have a home network system on Broadband, using a Linksys 4-port router Model- NR041 and a Linksys Wireless G Access Point, normally I have a laptop and another pc linked into this wireless system and it worked.

Then I worked on someone’s computer, they have dial-up and I have wireless. So I proceeded to hook the Linksys Wireless-G USB Network adapter into his system which was originally hooked to my pc, and had to run the disc inside his system to set it up.

The problem now is, my laptop says it is acquiring a network but cant see it, I did an ipconfig /all and found that it does not have a ip address or subnet mask or default gateway. Also the persons system I had now states the modem needs to be reset. I need help all the way around.

Thanks for any help I can get!!!!
