Laptop Trouble

By Bennzo ·
Hi, I'm having trouble with friends laptop I'm doing some work on, during initial bootup it freezes after completing the memory check and all I get is a flashing cursor. I can't boot from a system disk for some reason and attempting to access bios doesn't work using any default keys I know (del, esc, F2).

The model is a Toshiba Satellite 430 CDT. any help even accessing the bios would be great.

Thanks Bennzo

The mother board may have a bios lock key installed and you will need the manual to see where the bios jumper is located to disable it.
Use the battery charger to charge up the power and see if this will help,
Check the memory modules and see if the hard drive is seated properly and powering up.

Thanks soulrider, the bios lock was the key alright though it was a real pain getting access without the manual to see the motherboard config. trial and error wins the day!

I have found that some PCs use rather odd key combinations to access the bios (such as F10 or CTRL + INSERT). If you go to the toshiba website "http://www.csd.toshiba.com/" you can download a copy of the user guide. This should at least inform youon the proper key combination required to access the bios. BTW: There is no 430 CDT listed although there is a 4030 CDT.
