Laptop won’t boot.

by halfahue . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

last night I had a sever virus problem.. Ran a few programs and removed some.. I know for a fact that there was still some on there when I went to bed. (I was going to finish when I got home from work).

Meanwhile the wife booted the laptop up and Software kept installing, finally Laptop shut down and now won’t restart.

The Laptop is a year old

HP Presario V5000
1.3 GHZ
512 MB

Now my Question is… I never made a Recovery set. I bought the Laptop on Clearance (Last one). I have no Discs with it. (Stupid me!)

Can I A) Make a Cable ATA to USB
B)Make some sort of Bootable CD.

I Get to the Press F10 or ESC keys to go into setup or Choose what boot device. I DL’ed a Boot disk from Nu2 didn’t seem to work…

Should I try and Flash this thing, FDISK, Format and all that other Jazz. or is there a way to get to the recovery console and get this thing back up? I can hear the HD buzzing and then it would typically go to the COMPAQ GUI then windows logon but gets stuck right at the loading of windows..

Also.. Since there is no Command Promt really… I read a little something about booting FREEDOS from PXE… for a Flash drive..

What are my best options to get this thing to work?

Thanks in advance.
