Laptop won’t work with DHCP due to phantom reservation.

I created a reservation for a laptop that was happily working on DHCP, the laptop then stopped picking up an IP address. I deleted the reservation but the laptop still would not pick up an IP address. I have tried to create another reservation for this laptop but now I get the message “The specified address is not available”. Intermitently an entry appears in the Address Leases list for the MAC address of the laptop with “None” in the Type column which I have deleted but it returns. I have tried restarting the DHCP service and reconciling the scope (which did pick up on the problem address) but the problem still persists. Basically there seems to be a phantom reservation for this mac address that is not listed in the Reservations List but is preventing this laptop from working with DHCP. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas? The laptop is using a static IP at the moment

Windows 2003 server R2.

John
