Laserjet 4 Plus printing

By ogneb ·
I have a Digital HiNote laptop (266 MHZ, 32 MB, 4 gigs) running on Windows 95. I downloaded HP Laserjet 4 plus driver from HP.COM, installed it and tried printing a test page and the printer display panel changes to "W2 Invalid Pers". Got the samething when I tried printing from Word 97. But was able to print from DOS Prompt with DIR > LPT1. Thanks for any help.

Go to Microsoft's knowledge page: ort.microsoft.com/kb/c.asp?fr=0&SD=GN&LN=EN-US. Look up Article I Q128345. This haswveral printing problems listed, one of the solutions is printing from DOS but not from windows.

Good luck.

Some things to try.
1. Boot in dos mode. (F8 during startup)
2. Delete all *.tmp files in the c:\windows\temp directory. Also from the c:\temp if you have one.
3. Boot to windows 95 and click start then find and search for all *.tmp files anddelete them.
4. delete the printer definition.
5. reboot to windows and set the printer up again.

SHOULD fix the problem.

DELETE THE PRINTER.. RESTART... DOWNLOAD THE APPROPRIATE DRIVER WITH ACCESSORIES FROM HP... AND THAT MIGHT WORK OUT...
