How can there be a "Last Reply" if there have been no replies?

Post a question in the Q&A section and it immediately appears saying there is one reply despite that fact that there are no replies, just the question.

Good Old US English

Ah, the good old US version of the English language.

In this instance, "last" is being used as a substitute for "most recent". Or perhaps latest reply.

There are no replies to the question. There is only the question itself, which is not a reply.
